If you take Slipknot, and Korn, put them in a pot over extreme heat and pressure, out comes the head banging sensation out of New Orleans, Louisiana. Cane Hill was bred in the heavy music scene of New Orleans, the band formed between members, Elijah Witt, James Barnett, Berno Barnett, Ryan Henriquez, and Devin Clark in 2011. The group named themselves after the abandoned psychiatric hospital of the same name in the UK.

So I came across this band actually via Google music from a station I started featuring the song “Be Great” by Backwordz, which I have previously talked about. “Time Bomb” came on and I had to replay it 3 times. I was incredibly impressed, and confused why I hadn’t heard this song before. Time Bomb was of course released in 2014. So of course this is now 3 years later in 2017. I decided to go to their discography, and it felt so familiar. As I said, I felt I was listening to a hybrid of Korn and Slipknot, two of my favorite bands growing up.

Their first self-titled EP was released on Rise records on 2015, and in 2016 their first Studio album “Smile was released also on Rise records. Their sound has been categorized as metal-core, nu metal, and alternative metal. That sound is definitely comparative to other nu-metal bands like Powerman 5000, and Emmure. Look for this band to definitely blow up!

They’ll be on tour this summer tour dates in the link below! And they’ll be in Baltimore at Baltimore Soundstage July 27th.
